Yet Another DE question

Mine is the Perma Guard as well, but I see spatcher has answered your question and he would know because he sells the stuff! He says it is fine, so it must be fine!

Thanks for the help!

I searched by the product's EPA number and got this page, which says the Concern is approved for use in human and pet sleeping quarters and stored grains. So, sounds like it should be okay for the floor of the run.

I sent a PM to the poster and advised her to be very careful with this product. To my knowledge, a product does not need an EPA number UNLESS there are insecticides in it!

mipsy6 you might want to google these companies: "Woodstream" is the parent company, then "Saferbrand" is under them and they distribute the "Concern", Could find no product safety data on their DE and it seems the parent company's primary products deal with the eradication of moles, mice and rats. Sooooo, I dont know what to tell you. If what you found is true about the crystalline silica being so low, in of by itself it may have started out as food grade but with EPA thing going on, there may be insecticides in it and it might be harmful to your chickens. Hope this helps in some way!
