yet another random question... UPDATE ABOUT SILKY!!

Sorry I keep asking so many questions but you guys seem so informative

My silky just hatched today. There is this little red thing come out of its rear end (it looks like it anyway) Would this be the male part?? Sorry if this seems naive but this is my first baby chicken hatch and I want to make sure this is "normal"

Edit: I went to go take a picture of this red thing that's dangling but I can't get a clear view through the incubator and I'm not allowed to open it yet

I think it may be the yolk not absorbing yet. It doesn't seem like it's coming out of its butt more closer to the leg.

As soon as I'm allowed to open the bator i will post a picture for your very knowledgeable people!!

if you can post a pic that would be great, i am wondering if it is still some yolk that was not adsorbed.....

you would not see his boy parts generally

The male parts are on the inside in chickens, so you wouldn't be able to see them. He may not have absorbed all his yolk yet or he may have a hernia. I'd recommend posting a picture, so someone can help you identify the issue and whether you need to worry about it or not.

Do you mean like a piece of string? It's his little "umbilical cord" and is attached to his "navel". Normal, if that's what you meant.
