So, we got the coop structure mostly up yesterday (when I say We I mean my hubby and his dad LOL). It is basically a 4X8 rectangle 8'tall on one side and 7.5 on the other. I am thinking of putting permanently open vents along the the higher 8'long side. Our door is on that side also so, the vented area would be about 6'long. I was thinking of making the holes 6" wide. Our winters here do not get brutally cold and I am not insulating. Is this too much "always open" ventilation? I'm thinking it is not. Should I think about putting it on the shorter side so that I don't lose "all" the warm air in the winter? I am also adding a "bunch" of other ventilation points I can close. Eventually they will be windows but, for now they will just be hardware wire covered holes with flaps to close.
