*YIKES!!!!! $4.699!!!

There are cheaper forms of alternative fuels. Ethinol can be produced in South America or here for that matter from the waste of refining sugar cane for very cheap.

Corporate America is screwing the public and it never stopped....

As for Europe paying high gas prices.... They are set up for public transportation where as most of the US is not.

We also commute farther to work and are a bigger Nation than are most of the European Nations put together, i.e. they don't go very far.

I paid $3.62 at Costco last week.

* My gf's daughter picked up a 8o's plymouth horizon for a few hundred for school. That thing was getting nearly 5O mpg.!!! Then she got in a accident, she wasn't hurt at all, thank goodness-- "Putt-Putt" was totaled. Boy!! Was she ever mourning that car!! The car companies absolutely CAN make cars that get awesome gas mileage, even without batteries and all that. Especially with today's lightweight components. A '66 Mustang got 19-22 miles per AND weighed almost 4,OOO lb. for crying out loud!!

Whoa, they're trying to tell us we're paying higher in CT than anywhere else in the country but I can still find it for $4.19.
We have friends who own a moving company. One of their drivers filled up last weekend and it was over $1000. I think I will throw up the day I have to pay $5 a gallon.

I will

to. I think we all need to start carpooling to the stores again. When you live in the country you will be waiting a lo--------------------ng time for a bus, b/c they don't run around here.

* When I was a kid in SoCali, they had "stands" just for the military guys to legally hitch a ride. Too bad we live in such a time that you just can't trust enough to make use of something like that with people. ed-sp.

My DH wants to do that with our Jetta TDI too. It's a 2003 and you're right, he'll drive it till it dies. We have had two friends trade theirs in for newer models. Awesome cars!
My minivan's transmission died and we're still paying off the Jetta so I'm driving a friend's 1994 Volvo wagon for now. We'll probably buy it from them. It's got 202k miles on it and going strong.
I'm trying hard to cut down on driving. Grocery store once every two weeks for a big shop. No more quick trips for stuff.
And we too love our woodstove. Couldn't have made through last year without it!
