My day got off to a fearful start whenever I came too close for my comfort to this snake that frequents the area. Much unlike the subject of my fear. This slithering sneaky snake chose to start the day off with big goals  This isn't the first time this snake has tried to eat duck eggs. I'm wondering if the rain is helping to make the egg have more slip. The other times that I have witnessed the snake during its attempts, it's not been successful in eating a duck egg. I was told that these snakes will kill venomous snakes and I shouldn't kill them. I DO NOT like any snake, but it seems I can't escape them so I'd rather not end up with a bunch of venomous snakes. What are your thoughts?

I started a new thread without checking past threads because I wanted to share the picture too.

I hope you're having a wonderful morning. Those of us on the east coast of the USA, specifically the Carolinas, are getting lots of needed rain, thanks to Elsa 😓

I didnt get a good picture whenever I had the chance. This snake was at least 7ft long and checking out my duck house last night. It eventually crawled up and was looking in the window :th I always go down to the duck house to check it over before walking the ducks down. This is the reason why. Not too long ago, I found a fox in the area in front of the duck house eating their feed!

So the snake dropped the egg. I believe it's going to the ground to attempt it again. It didn't get any more of the egg into its mouth. I know they can seriously stretch to eat unimaginable things, but I don't know about this. It looks like it's moved along and gave up, for now. It's so interesting to watch them, but I am so terrified of snakes.

The above picture is my daughter-in-law, the snake whisperer! I never kill the black snakes, just try to relocate because they eat a lot of vermin and they are usually pretty docile. Raleigh, NC
I am in agreement with your DIL! I kept herps for years (including large/small snakes - all non-venomous...I'm not that crazy :D). I always relocate snakes (even if they are venomous) on our property to a further place away from wherever they are near our house. I'd rather have snakes around than vermin.
