LOL I tried to get him and his dad to go fetch the eggs for me while I cooked dinner and neither one of them could do it. "it just came out of a chickens butt"!!!!

So is that what they say about babies too? Ask them where THEY came from!

Im not sure when to put mine out there. I have five grown game hens that are still skidish. they were free ranged before coming to me. Im afraid they will kill my babies. I dunno if im being over protective or not....

Can you put them in a pen during the daytime at least? A little pen inside the run so they get to know each other?

I bought extra fencing so I could fence off a space for them in the run, well that was my thought. Then I second guessed myself on the plan.... Im driving myself nuts....

OMG! My son does the same thing! But he won't eat my eggs because he knows what chickens' butt it came out of! He wants the eggs of an anonymous butt from the store!

Quote: OMG the lady next door is the same way!! She will not eat or touch an egg from any ones flock. She has to have the "clean" ones from the store

I have my chicks in a brooder on the back porch and the duckies are just roaming the room. today I am going to let them all mingle together. Hopefully they will learn to be nice, due to they will be in the run together later

I think that is the best plan, you can let the chicks get sunshine and have fun outside during the day WITHOUT worrying about them for days on end.

The little bantam has started laying and yeah I felt a little weird eating her eggs too, just seemed weird and personal. LOL.

But I can tell myself that I know my chickens are loved and happy so eating THEIR eggs is better than the store bought eggs (from chickens aren't loved and probably not very happy).

Course I still eat store bought chicken and always will, I won't ever raise meat birds or eat any of mine.
