YO GEORGIANS! :)

I believe it is the Cornish Rock (cornish x) that doesn't live past adulthood; nor do they "breed true" or are they easy to produce on your own with the contributing breeds. That's good, because they're not pleasant birds to raise.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. But she wanted them, and abmaddox said she would help us murder them, so whatever. If I get a pen fast enough for them, I'll be putting them at the far end of the property.

She can be the one to feed them. I don't want to go near them!

And my niece is now hoping her ducks turn out to be male and female, so she can raise and sell ducklings....

Okay, seriously, what happened at Tractor Supply last night? All I left with was two plants (one blueberry bush and a plum tree)!

You do all the things that I don't know how to do, but would love to! I have spent most of my childhood in the mountains and can't wait to live a little farther north. I also have chickens and 3 fruit trees that are pretty much useless. I love to garden though my current one isn't very big and I'm afraid to can. Our garden is pretty small so we don't have much to freeze or can anyway. There is no way you could get me to process my own meat though, no sir'ee. I make pickles and pasta if that counts. Don't know how to knit or crotchet but I'm learning to sew. I don't know anyone even close to my age that likes doing anything I like to do either. BYC people are definitely my kind of people though!

I have a question, do your fruit trees actually bear any fruit?
Well, my mom taught me to sew when I was very young. She tried to teach me crochet, but i never caught on. I learned to knit in my teens. Crochet is something I've always wanted to do, but never had time to learn until last year. I strongly suggest watching a few beginner YouTube videos on the Granny Square, if you want to learn. I used those videos, watching them several times, to teach myself. The Granny Square uses the basic stitches in crochet, so it's a great place to start.

My apple tree bears very well. My plums don't bear much at all. This winter Dad helped me prune them all, and I plan to fertilize them. If they don't bear some fruit within the next 2 years, I'm cutting them down and planting something else. I also have a grape vine that does rather well. We pruned it down this winter, so likely we won't have another grape crop for about 3 years. It's an old vine, and needed pruning desperately.

I recently planted blackberry bushes, along with several blueberry bushes, and a few cherry bushes. Hopefully 3-4 years from now, I'll have lots of cherries & berries

At how many weeks do my chicks need to come out of the brooder my wife says 4
Four is best, yes.

My Light Brahmas are about 5 weeks old now, and I've still got them in a tub I've used for their brooder.

I've been taking them outside to a grow-out pen on nice days. Last night I turned off the heat lamp, since it was near 60 all night here. When do you think I can leave them out in the grow-out pen overnight?? (it's not a coop, just a chicken tractor. Shelter is a tarp.)
