YO GEORGIANS! :)

So I always hear people posting how their chickens come running because they associate the human with treats. My girls seem a little different. Whenever I put my hand down in the brooder they run away... Then they realize it's the sparkly hand and the all want to swarm my hand to see my wedding ring. Haha they usually peck at it and just stare, cocking their heads so inquisitively. Haha

All of my chicks are scared to death of me

The ones my neighbor hatched out are not as skittish as the others, but they don't quite trust me yet.

Now my big girls follow me all over the yard. If they are somewhere else, and I yell "Here chick chick chick" they all come running. That's my signal for treats to get them in their pen. I'm sure the others will understand once I start giving them treats, which I haven't done with any of them yet.

I'm browsing the internet, and arranging to pick up some critter apparatus, but the new Jester bunny is chilling on the couch with me and keeps nudging my arms like a dog! He's lobbying pretty hard to be a house bunny...
I say do it!

Robo broke the forum!!

And you're surprised because...?

My niece's two ducklings were scared of me. My goslings are just chatty, but they love me and follow me already. The ducklings, however, would only follow BEHIND the goslings, and wouldn't come near my hand.

... Until today when I introduced them to mealworms. One duckling has completely overcome his fear. He doesn't care anymore, and hopped right up on to my leg to look in the mealworm bin for more. The other one - after noticing what the first one was getting - will come up and nibble on my hand, but still won't let me pick her up without a fight.

AND.... I'm starting to think my niece JUST SO HAPPENED to get a male and female duck. One is smaller and has a shorter bill, while the other one is bigger with a longer bill, and they have very different personalities, too. But they are both supposed to be full Pekin...

Haha, watch out for nail polish on the fingers AND toes. When I walk into the yard with flip-flops and painted nails, they get very curious and curious hurts!

YES!!! They love pecking at my bright-colored toes! OWWW!!

A lady in Kennesaw is wanting to either sell or trade this big chicken coop for a smaller one. Anyone interested?

The one on the right. The one on the left is her rabbit hutch.
That's nice! I wish I had a coop. I'd trade her in a heartbeat!

My version of chickens want in/dogs want out! "grass is always greener on the other side?"

I've wanted to try mealworms, BUT I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a chicken treat.

My gals get 5-way scratch, plus lots of different kitchen scraps. If I am digging in the yard and find bugs, I throw them to the girls and they gobble 'em up! They love roaches, grasshoppers, worms, flies, and ants.

Oh, and apparently they like voles too, since I caught a few of the girls stealing one of the cat's 'catches' recently.
You should've seen the outraged look on my cat's face!

"How dare you! Mom, are you gonna let that chicken eat MY vole?" Yes, yes I am.

Hahahaha! We have a little Rat terrier that does the same thing when we throw kitchen treats out the window! She's like, really I'm sitting right here, I have a perfectly good mouth! Why are you feeding the birds AGAIN!!!!
