Mine squat when I go to pet them. Strange birds

I thought you had cornish rocks?

Lucky!!! My chickens would have picked out the strawberries and bread and left the rest. My cats are scared of the chickens, especially when they were babies.
I put mine on the roost bar every night for weeks and weeks and weeks and 2 would go back to the 1x4 holding the nesting box hay in every night! I would try, but some chickens are just too darn stubborn!
I do have 4 cornish Rocks, along with 3 Road Island reds , 2 Americaunas, 1 easter Egger(supposed to be an americauna), 1 Barred Rock, and 1 I got out of the mixed bin.

I love seeing all the postings but I haven't had time to do much posting or even get to read them all. We had a new chick born into the family 8 weeks ago and she has kept us busy. Her name is Gabrielle and she is my granddaughter. I've also started incubating a few eggs. I think I'm on day 7. Can't wait to candle them for the first time and then for them to hatch. It's going to be fun. I usually only have had a broody hen do it but this year with this crazy weather not one had gone broody. Last year the first one went broody in February. Then I had 4 of them go broody and had 5 hatches because one of them did it twice. Does anyone want to trade some hatching eggs? Maybe we could organize a get together in the coming months? I know it's been mentioned before but probably hard to get all of us busy folks on the same page.

Are you sure that's your FERTILITY rate and not your HATCH rate?

Fertility is very often 100%, but for whatever reasons, the eggs simply don't develop. To check actual fertility, you have to crack the eggs open and look for the "bullseye" on the yolk. But obviously once you do that, the eggs can't be hatched out.

An actual HATCH rate of 82% is very good. If you're getting that, I'd say you're good to sell hatching eggs now. Most people don't actually know the fertility rate of their chickens when they sell eggs anyway - only their own hatch rates.
its my fertility rate as of now. I'm still record in but I'm using the ones I'm trying to hatch so at only day 4 I'm not going to pull any possible clears to find out. I'm sure as the hatch goes on it will be higher. But for now I am counting any possible clears as infertile until proven otherwise. Either by more developing or by cracking open the clears to find out.
My hatch rate on the other hand I haven't really calculated because I haven't had a hatch big enough to be accurate yet.

Hey guys! Someone suggested that I come here to ask about local breeders. I'm in Northeast GA and I was curious if there are any Indian Runner breeders in the area. We want to get our little man a few pretty girls and any information as to where I could get some would be great! :)

I have a pair of Indian runner ducks. I just hatched one duck about a week ago. Threw some eggs under a broody hen. I also have one egg that should hatch around the 27th. (One of my hens has been getting into the nest and eating them.. I think I know who did it and she is now somewhere else.) I have another broody hen sitting on 4 more eggs. Hers won't hatch until May 8th. Am also putting in 6 more eggs in the bator tonight unless you want to come and get them. They are Fawn and White. Since I only have one female duck right now, don't have many eggs to stick under broodies! Too many broodies! Let me know if you are interested. I live near Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville.
