Hi, I need some advice, i'm such a newbie. We just had to give our 3 roosters away because they aren't appropriate for our neighborhood and they just started crowing. Our remaining 9 birds are all female and about 13 weeks old. We wanted to add 3 more birds back to our flock and had our eye on some different breeds to mix things up some. We would really like to get 3 hens already laying, but didn't know if that's a bad idea considering our girls aren't laying yet. I'd appreciate any thoughts on that and advice for adding new birds as well. Thank you!

GAM and Robo, I finally got the picks of the ducks to my daughter in Eygpt, she is so delighted that you have her babies!!!!!!! LOL thank you so very much
That's great. I'll be taking a real camera (instead of my phone) over later, weather permitting, and will get some more shots for you guys. The ducks really are settling i well. I can't wait for them to start laying. :D

Great. I'm getting chicks for the first time in two weeks. I have two doxies. I hope they won't find chicken poo as a tasty treat. One of them already seeks out rabbit poo!
rabbit poo is like yard caviar to dogs

well we have a German wire haired pointer, it's in the dna to hunt birds. I shouldn't have been too angry with him, I'm literally taunting him with chickens on the other side of the fence. The electric fence was on but he didn't care when the gate was wide open!! Who owns chickens with a bird dog!?! Me.

The chickens really love the new shed coop and spend most of the hot days in it hiding from the sun. Only the sky just opened up and suddenly all the chickens came running out of it into the rain! So weird, the always hide from the rain. I am guessing the rain on the tin roof scared them? LOL Should I go lock them in it to keep them out of the rain?

The rain brings the bugs out too so they may be looking for bugs.
