YO GEORGIANS! :)

Ok, time to replace the candler that I loved. (It was a battery powered one.)

Before I buy the same one again ... what is your favorite one to use and why?

My iPhone isn't strong enough for any kind of colored shell.. But then I like to see detail, not just whether or not the egg is filling.

I use just a small LED flashlight.. And I LOVE it. Mr Carcar actually just got a new 220 lumen one and it's sweet. :)

You know what.. I just remembered.. I think the reason my phone doesn't work well is because of the case. There's an odd, square-shaped hole where the flash is, and I'm guessing other cases must have a round hole.

Poor chicks are going to come out blind.

Got a cute photo of Maggie today. She has been hanging out with her new friends and new boyfriend all day. The male, Tinker, chats with her all the time. She is fitting in very nicely., Don't know what mix she is, but she is a sweetie. (The little brownish one on the left)

Here is my youngest rooster, Hogan. (As in Hulk Hogan.....named for his yellow locks) He is an Olive Egger Roo.

The little chick on his left is Thumbellina. She and Hogan are the same age! She is so tiny. She is a Rhodebar and her sister is the chick on the right of Hogan. I thought she was going to die when I hatched her.....like a preemie, but she is doing well except of her size! All three were hatched on the same day. Big difference.

The one that I had been using for all of my class hatching projects had a rubber gasket and soft rubber tip that allowed for a nice seal against the shell. Of course the two rubber parts disappeared during the last class but there's no way to state definitively that they lost it. At home I use a kick butt flashlight with a partial roll of flex-tape to serve the same purpose as the rubber bits on the pro one. It works great but it is harder to keep all f that balanced just right as I walk through a see of kids i a dark room. lol

I got an Ozark Trail flashlight 250 lumens from Walmart. I use it for everyday candling and used it on the NYD HAL. It works great on a dark egg from our Red Star and worked pretty good on the hatching eggs. I got an OvaScope candler (part of Christmas from my DH) from Brinsea but it came too late for me to use on the ones I hatched in the New Years Day HAL. It is great seeing through the everyday eggs so should be great on the hatching ones too.

Step away from the wine and pain pills.
