YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share, my EE finally laid her first egg! Took long enough...
I also had a question: the other photo is a pic of the type of eggs my Brahma, Butterbean, lays. We worry about the cracking, it runs all the way around the egg. Should we be concerned about it? Anything that can be done? It also seems to form a bumpy spot at that area, also all the way around. I would love some advice. And if anyone is hatching EE, please let me know! I want to get another one, to replace the one that got eaten by a hawk.

There are several of us who are hatching out EEs. I have a few and I know Carcar has some. We will be taking them to the big Chicken swap in McDonough on Feb 14, or you can contact us for earlier gettings.
About your egg. IMO, your chicken must be sitting on it while it is sticking halfway out, and then maybe squeezing on it to get the rest out. Just guessing.

Thanks, Flower. She very well could be doing that. I had read somewhere that it could be caused by afternoon stress, but that seems highly unlikely. I still haven't decided about going to the swap, it's a bit of a drive. We're taking a trip at the end of Feb, so I'm also debating about getting chicks right before we leave. If you plan on having any at the beginning of March, that would be really great!

Yes, my black sex link lays a lot of eggs with that. I've never thought much of it I guess. Heck as long as it's edible I don't care- LOL! ;)

I have been hatching some EE cross all month.. They should lay some shade of green. I have some two-week olds, some week-olds, some hatching right now, some next.. Well. You get the picture. :lau

They're all small hatches but I could certainly spare a couple if that's all you're looking for. If you're looking for chicks. Where in GA are you?

I'm in Bogart, by Athens. Where are you at? I don't think it's a big deal to get the chicks before we leave, they'll be in a brooder for a while. My neighbor said she would take care of my chickens.

So Flower.. The lone Wyandotte from last weekend's hatch- I'm pretty sure it's blue? I think?

And then these three.. Just because they're so cute. They crack me up staying together. They're the only ones this color so far, though I have at least two more drying.

So after talking about how easy my incubating/hatching life is at home ... just keep tossing them in and they hatch ... I have enough ducks eggs in and coming that I now have to actually pay attention.

Top one looks like a boy, can you tell? Cute chicks! Love them all!

I live in Dawsonville, but I have a friend who goes to Athens almost every day. Let me know if you want her to bring chicks!
