YO GEORGIANS! :)

Has anyone had any luck getting grocery stores to bag up old produce that was meant for trash? I was at Kroger this morning, and the guy from produce was tossing slightly wilted cabbage and broccoli. When I asked about it, he said they put it in the garbage... not even compost. Said it was store policy. Nearly broke my heart! I'm going to call the store mgr on Monday.

Publix is the same way. Said if they started giving it away, everyone would want some, then they'd have to find a way to charge for it. Seriously?!

Be like me and just dumpster dive after hours! You can get some good scraps for your birds. Lol! If its garbage its not stealing.

@PapaChaz Thanks for your input. I did not post on the ameraucana form because a lot of them are bullies.

ohhh, I'm sorry. I haven't run into that over there yet. Won't do em any good with me though

There are moderators for that though, and they're glad to help!

either way, glad I could help! I was looking at that chart and it doesn't really add up with what happened for you though does it.....

as sad as that is, they pretty much have to do that. I know a guy who worked at one of the local grocery store years ago who was supposedly taking the "throw out" lettuce home to his chickens and rabbits who was actually caught taking other things out in there hidden in the lettuce.

I doubt if they'd say much if anything if you just went around behind the store and got it out though. Although now days you never know. Better to do as you said and just call the manager
