Oh I did tell him. He said he had no idea, it was a friendly convo. He offered to replace but I declined, they were super cheap eggs and I mostly just wanted him to know bc he had mentioned hatching some himself. Nice guy. :)

But do you think these could've developed THIS far and that still be the issue? I guess I'll see how these mfd do but I'm almost paranoid something is up in the bator.. On the other hand I don't know what I could do more, it's so automated.[/quote]

Yes. They can grow that far. Think in terms of a woman's pregnancy. The placenta should attach to the upper side walls of the uterus. Sometimes it will grow at the bottom and cover the birth canal. The weight of the baby as it grows can either cause her to misscarry or she would need a c-section. Anyway, it does matter where the yolk floats to.

Thanks!

Here's his info.

Thank you for all of your help. He does have some barred rock and that is pretty close. I just really planned on Dominique's. I guess it's my fault for getting my hopes up because of craigslist

Do you guys know of anyone with Orpingtons? I hear they are good broodys. I kept an AM roo and I plan on keeping a BCM roo to use for hatching. The problem is I'm afraid of an incubator. I'm not sure my current girls are particularly inclined to go broody. Any advise?

Orps are okay I'm sure but Brahma's are BIG, wonderful Mamas and very prone to brood in my experience. And super sweet birds, too. Although I'm partial to be sure. :)

Not mature ones, not off the top of my head. But I'll be on the lookout for ya. God willing, I'll have plenty of chicks this spring but that won't do you any good this year..
