YO GEORGIANS! :)

where's my sweet brown meme when I need it, LOL

well I'll remember that next time. I'm measuring middle of it, but not right under the heater of course. So whatcha think, next time bump it how much? I read that a chickens body temp is 106, but that doesn't that's what she's generating out to sit on the eggs, maybe 102?

Didn't you run part of this hatch as still air? Can't remember. If so, still air runs at different temp as a fan assist one. Look it up, I'm taking a nap or I would do it for you. Lol

yeah I've been reading up on it. Should have been running it around 102, I haven't had the top off but I'd bet the batteries in the little fan have died and it's been too cool. The two that were pipped this morning still aren't out. both pips are a little bigger, but still not even poking through.

I'll have a better fan before my next hatch, and I'll put thermometers in all 4 corners and the middle to see what it's doing. I've probably just wasted this hatch and I sure do hate it. But man that first chick came right on out so easy......

102 at top of eggs is usual for still air. But you say you're getting a fan, so you'll stay at the 99.6 range next time. That'll avoid hot and cool spots too, which is likely a reason for your staggered hatchers.

yeah pretty sure the fan was working when that first one hatched. Funny thing when I had my computer shop, I probably threw away over 100 old computers through the years with fans in them, now I have to go buy one, LOL

the two eggs that were pipped this morning, still haven't done anything else, except you can stand a watch and they bounce around in there, so I know at least they're still alive in there.

ok a couple more pics. I've been working on my water bucket some more.

first off, this is the screw in barb that the hose clamps on to:

this is what the end where the nipples will be looks like. Thought I had an elbow but didn't, just used another T and then went off it and capped the end off:

the nipples are made to go in thin plastic like a bucket, but when drilling through something thick like the PVC, you have to prethread the holes with a bolt. The size is 10 mm, 1.0 which is super fine thread. I know I have one of those around here from making the big system last summer for the coop, but can't find it. It's an odd size, NOT ONE hardware store or parts place in this lil po dunk town, or even Fastenal had one. So until I get the holes prethreaded, I'm using a spare water bottle hung up on some wire.....LOL

last thing, take a look at this egg. Notice the swell in the side? kinda looks like my waist line too,

but I digress, this is the second egg this week I've gotten like this. Shell is almost cracked through, I'll be scrambling this one and giving it to the chicks tomorrow
