YO GEORGIANS! :)

if you're computer inclined at ALL, you should download and play around with Sketchup.....watch the how to videos, and play around with it, it's a very good CAD program, it's free and it's relatively easy to use

Yes, I have used SketchUp. That is very cool software, and Sketchup Make is still free. The only thing I don't like is that when it comes to framing corners and that kind of thing, Sketchup doesn't provide a way to add detail. You're right though, for coming up with a general concept, Sketchup is an excellent CAD program.

I have a post over on the new coop section. Not much activity over there ..was wondering if some of y'all could take a look...i feel like I'm sounding whiny ...lol or seriously OCD or obsessed...above the post are pics of my coop. Any input from my GA people would be appreciated. You can post any replies over here, since this is where I am most of the time.

Thanks in advance

I'm somewhat OCD myself, so I can relate. However, when you invite people to help, you can often end up with something that's less to your standards. People mean well, but if they don't share your exact vision, you can end up losing time undoing what they did to help you. I know - I'm preaching to the choir.

I checked out your coop picts. Is it really that out of square? Pictures can be deceiving, but your coop looks pretty good. I especially like your corner triangle roost. (I'm going to steal that idea! lol)

I'm currently working on a new double-pen coop, but only my wife and my son have worked with me, and they know how I am and have a good idea what I want. I drew up a schematic before we ever started and went over the plans with them. I like to create a materials checklist ahead of time and job cost before I ever start a project. Again, that part of my particular OCDness...lol

I recommend that you take down what you don't like; take your time, and just redo things yourself your way. At the end of the day, you'll be a lot happier and less stressed. We have nice weekend weather for a change here in GA, so see how far you can get. Best of luck!
:thumbsup

Yes it's really that out of square..lol..oh and everybody here has an opinion and think I should just shut up and let them do it, well they did a crappy job, and kept telling me..its not perfect a chicken coop doesn't need to be perfect, I'm like seriously, if you did what I drew up in the first place it wouldn't be a problem. The only thing that is my fault is the tin, which btw they did not put up right to fit the grooves made in it...lol...again OCD ...thanks for the advice, thankfully one of the guys here, close to me, is hopefully going to come help me make it right!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by no way to add detail, because I've done some pretty detailed stuff on there, and some of the stuff you can download from online in it are incredibly detailed. I did our closet in our bedroom, down to the wire shelves to look like closet maid stuff.

although, I'm not sure with the free version it has those options, I haven't used it since the pro trial period expired. I'm waiting for my next project to download the 2017 version, so I'll have it again, LOL yeah, I'm cheap

Lets go back and talk some more about Oxine AH. I was looking online and I see two different colored labeled Oxine. Red and Black. Are they both the same? What is the activator for? Anyone who is using this, please let me know which one is the best . Thanks.

Wow, I wish I had taken a closer look at SketchUp awhile back when I toyed around with it. You're right, Chaz, it is capable of doing a great job with framing.

Thanks for pointing that out. I checked out this YouTube video, and this is exactly what I would have wanted to do:

I'm in the middle of a project now that I worked out on several sheets of graph paper. How steep is the learning curve to be able to do what they guy does in the video?

Hey, nothing wrong with being cheap/thrifty, or whatever you want to call it. Everybody likes a good deal.

PM Silver Hill, I believe that is what he puts in his fogger

I have not used either one, so I would like to know as well.

Speckled Hen...where are you???

Do not get the activator. It is for disinfecting chicken houses that are empty, very, very strong. You only need the Oxine AH in the gallon jug. I don't know about red or black, this is what I have and what I got last time as well. I'd never seen the black label before. I use Virkon-S concentrate tablets to do a solution in a spray bottle for shoes and cleaning in the coops as well. It is cheaper to ship than Oxine, but I wouldn't put it in drinking water or necessarily mist birds with it. I keep both around here. (maybe the black is just their updated label?)
