There's not a huge difference between full-strength vinegar (cleaning vinegar) and regular white vinegar. Cleaning vinegar is a 6% acetic acid solution, and regular vinegar is diluted to a 5% solution. That being said, most folks who use cleaning vinegar swear up and down it's much stronger than regular vinegar. It is actually 20% stronger, but I use the cheap regular white vinegar and have been satisfied with the results.

I've used regular vinegar as a weed killer in the past. It works great on weeds that are not acid tolerant, and lawns aren't harmed by it. OTOH, some weeds thrive when treated with vinegar. Hope that helps.

I only have the one poult in there, so I put the heating pad really low for now. Hopefully I'll have a chick or two to add tomorrow.

Thanks for the pics, Mylied. You had said you just drape the heating pad over a stick. So you put your stick through the bars of your brooder cage and that's it? The pad doesn't weigh it down?

So, I have this great shirt that says "Chickens make me happy" I really like this shirt, but yesterday when my company was here, I was wearing a jacket over this shirt. My friend sent me a copy of the picture she took of me......ummm, remind me not to wear a jacket with this shirt anymore!!

On a better note, while my company was here, I wanted them to see my adorable Naked Neck named Penelope. So, I looked for her and saw her way up at the top of the chicken run.....all the way up the side of the hill in the trees. So I called her, "Penelope, come! Come here, baby! Come on Penelope!" I mean, this little cutie pie lifted her head, looked at me and came running....I mean, no other chicken moved toward me. Just her, running as fast as she could! It was as if she knew her name and knew I wanted her to come! Everyone was very impressed!!! (Even me!)

Then you might want to go up to the top of the page and pull down the section called Learning center and go to the hatching 101 section. It gives you all sorts of information. If you are using a broody, there is a thread for that too.

Welcome to BYC, you will definitely find support and advice here...look over the forums, they have a board just for hatching and such. but I'm sorta partial to the GA thread! Hope you enjoy the group
