Welcome, Afro Chickens.

Like Specklehen, the heat of the lowlands is too much for me anymore. I was born and raised up north, so the cold winters here are mild are nothing compared to what my family's been getting in Ohio the last few years. I love the mountains and how they gentle the weather. It's always cooler up here above town at just over 2000ft. I love our microclimate. The views are not bad either.

Go to the forum that's the right subject, like coop building or incubation, then you can see under a thread a "button" that says "start a new thread".

Yeah, about that stone wall...I keep telling my husband that if money ever fell from the sky, a stone wall is going around our property with a huge wrought iron gate with electronic entry. I wish I could afford 100 acres. This stupid state wants to tax us to death over property. Have had to fight the county over overcharging taxes on our extra lots. We won, but ended up selling the bottom one just so we didn't have to pay the extra $150/yr on that 1.77 ac lot alone. The two lots are not part of the house taxes so had to be paid separately every year. I'd own a LOT more land if it wasn't for taxes.

Has anyone here read this book? If so does it tell the correct directions that the coop should be facing for sun, air and such?
