YO GEORGIANS! :)

I finally have mine back. You know how it goes when you loan stuff to friends. Geesh.:frow
I built a Whizbang plucker a few years ago and it works great. And last year I built an electric scalder big enough to fit the turkeys in.
Y'all want to have plucking party?
I'd be game and have a few grow outs we're ready to cull. I also have a propane smoker that we could easily transport to your place, so we could spatchcock and smoke some freshly-plucked birds right on the spot. They would be ready to eat in two hours. Let me know.

I used the Ihatch-chickens app. I have used hatchabatch too, but I like the I hatch one better. And it does do the percentages for you and keeps track of all your hatches. Only has chickens on it though, which hatchabatch has other poultry.

And if you want to come over when I process, you are welcome too. If that's what you meant. I haven't done it before, so we'll see how it goes. I have a little less than 30 to do.

I'm going to put a few feelers out in the morning to see what I can come up with and be in touch. It's something I'd definitely like to learn!

@ronnhill7 you just ducking your head in to answer the odd question?? :fl
I was responding to Flower's question about being the oldest... I have three sons; 41, 38, and 36. They are the delight of my life, have good jobs and I admire them. I would have all three living here in Georgia but they will not leave Panama City Beach; and they don't care for the country lifestyle that I enjoy.

Hey! I hate leaving the beach, too!

I'm going to an egg candeling class tomorrow. Any tips? Have y'all been to one? Is it hard to pass the excercise at the end?

I did mine this past spring. It was really easy once they show you what to look for, and like others have said EVERYONE passes! No stress!

Glad to hear the girls are settling in well! And already laying?! I'm surprised! I for sure thought they'd be too stressed and would 'hold it' for a couple days. They must be really happy with you. :)

I have one like the silver and yellow one and it came from the olive egg. I have a few that look like your bunch.

Cool! Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed. I had to pick ONE out of 20+ chicks that I didn't see hatch and hope it's the right one. Even if not though, it's going to be a beautiful adult bird!

Ok so I want some banty eggs or should I say more banty eggs, I just love those tiny birds, anyone have any game? can be mixed, just trying to get my DH's back he lost to a hawk.

If either of mine start laying any time soon, I'll let you know but they're both extremely broody right now!

Locking down tomorrow morning. Y'all say a little prayer for the malfunctioning incubator kids & the twins aka double yolker.

Good luck little peepers! Keep us updated on that double yolker!

Haven't been around in awhile, been pretty busy, doing projects, making more work for myself. If someone wants a good breeding pair, I have a Barred Plymouth Rock pair, just over 4 weeks old, unrelated to each other (I'm about 95% positive on that), but both from heritage lines, for $10, plus one extra cockerel for $5. And I have 17 Brahma chicks, 4 who are same age as the Rocks that may or may not be sold (will know soon) and 8 that are just over a week old, not sure the sex of the younger ones. They are Partridge, Blue partridge and one splash Partridge-that last one I will keep if it's a pullet, but if not, he will be for sale with the rest when mama is done with them.
Will it ever stop raining????? Ack!
Do you have any chicks or young hens for sales still?

I'd join in just so I can see how others take care of the process and I'm sure I'd learn something too. Oh and I can have the icky job, sense of went south many years ago so for the most part I can't smell the wonderful smells!!!

I have never eaten one of my chickens, so maybe it's time, I do enjoy my turkeys and I do process them, but the chickens just don't seem to have enough meat on them.
