You can try a little neosporin along the crease. It says not to use it in eyes but I have been told by a veterinarian it was actually ok to use it in the eye--It is up to you but I have used a lot of it in different eye situations and it seem to help.

Comfrey also helps if made into a tea/poltis and soak a cloth and/or hold the poltis/cloth on the eye if you want a very natural cure.

I use the nipples on a PVC pipe connected to a 5 gallon bucket. Connect the pipe to the bucket with flexible tubing so you can turn the bucket over and empty without disconnecting. Put a valve or threaded cap on the end of the pipe so you can drain and flush. Every so often I add some apple cider vinegar to the water .

Under the pipe I have a board set at an angle for the chickens to stand on to drink. One end is higher than the other so the shorter chickens can get to the nipples.

Here's the ones I use: http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplie...ystems-ft_poultry_hoses_nipples;pgwc1045.html

Lubricate the grommet with cooking oil before trying to insert it in the pipe.

I've got these in my run, tractor and brood pens. When I have to fill the bucket, I carry a couple of gallon jugs down when I gather eggs.

So far, it has not frozen with the lows at night being down to 27 degrees.

I've been looking at ideas like this. Some show putting a heater in a flower pot inside the bucket to prevent winter freezing and wrapping the PVC. What size PVC did you use? How much higher above the PVC line does the bucket need to be for water pressure? I went by Lowes last night based off of another posting here for the parts -----zero help in that department. I ended up putting everything except for he big white "for grade" buckets back.
