YO GEORGIANS! :)

Put me on the list of Georgians - I am in Woodstock just north of Atlanta. I've had laying hens for years, but now we are starting a much larger flock. I'l LOVE to be in contact with other breeders in Georgia, especially Ameraucana and Welsummer. Maybe we can swap some roosters!

Soo Soo happy finally found out important information. I was right and hubby was wrong. But wish he had been right. Our sebastapol trio was three girls. Until we found 3 eggs one day we weren't sure. I kept thinking they all sound alike. Never had Sebbies before so I thought, well maybe the male is quiet unlike our other Chinese when in season...Oh, No, he is not quiet!!!! Now I know why we had no fertile eggs...

Hope that the new gander help us get a few goslings. They have only been laying a few weeks, so hopefully....I know their season is a short one.

Our white chinese geese finally laying.... and are the Bourbon Red Turkeys - Lovely Lovely heritage grouping... But the big surprise was the guineas - who laid in beginning of March...zowie.... So Ga we have had snow dustings and we are almost in April..... Please tell me we want have a snow/hard freeze mid April like it was 6 years ago....Wow that was a hard time for our farm.......Froze all the veggies to the nub and delayed spring and summer crops! Well, I better go put my bunny listings up for clist....Anyone need a few bunnies????? They will make you Hoppy.....

Okay it's time to call in Farmer Husband for a meal~!

This may sound silly but....am I supposed to be able to pick up my 7 day old chicks without them trying to get away from me? They are eating, drinking, pooing, pooing, pooing and flapping their new little feathers ever so often.

My sister is out in Woodstock, its very beautiful out there and Ameraucana's just happen to be our favorite breed (we are new chicken owners). We aren't actually aloud to have chickens where we live but we aren't too far. Today the kids and I were looking out in Martin, GA. Man is it BEAUTIFUL out there! I would love to have some of that land!

Our chicks (also new to having chicks) still run away. We have some that are almost 5 weeks old and get held daily. And our new RIR that we got to accompany our only child bantam (unsure of breed) is worse than the 5 week old chicks. Weasel the bantam hatched late friday night so we didn't hold it until saturday and she is the fastest little booger ever! So its normal in my opinion.

I work during the day so I can only be with them before an after work and when Im off, but my husband fills in the gaps and holds them etc when Im gone. They are healthy and active so I guess I'll just keep trying and they will keep pooing :)
