We think coyote, but not sure. Whatever it was chewed through 1/2 inch hardware cloth. The girls were about 4 months old. We THOUGHT hardware cloth was predator proof.

I was so upset. I actually had a little accident while we were building the coop.I fell off a ladder and shattered my right heel. Have a metal plate and 5 screws now and was out of work abt 4 months. I think finding all my babies dead was worse than the fall.

What breeds are they? So,so cute!!!

Most of the black ones are Sumatra. There's a couple of them in there that are Easter Eggers though. The yellow ones are leghorns. The rest are easter eggers, with one Phoenix mix and one purebred Phoenix in the bunch.

My husband was like, really? I told him chickens are cheaper than meth and at least I can feed the eggs and meat to the kids. I could hear the eye roll through the phone.
