Glad I sleep lightly. Just woke up to loud "I'm lost and/or cold" chirping.

There are several chicks outside of my window in a doggie playpen with a tarp over it. The tarp was set up in a leaning fashion to let water run off, and it had a heat lamp.

Apparently during the night, one of the cats tried to jump on it. That caused the tarp to sink down in the middle and COLLECT water. It also cause the pen to start collapsing in the front where the tarp was tied to it.

The poor chickies were getting cramped and wet! So I moved them back inside to the baby brooder for the night. All chicks in there are fluffed up and walking well, so they will be fine in there for one night.

In the morning, I will probably move the pen to the carport, or set them up under the frizzles' cage.

Good thing you heard them. And I'm glad all the cuties are okay!

Poor babies! Thanks god you were able to save them before it got worse.

Everyone be careful out this morning. My boss texted from Calhoun.. Her hubby is on his way back from trying to get to work. Sounds like lots of slick spots up that way. I'm waiting for daylight to get out. "Can't wait" to drive my RWD baby on the ice. :(

Abmaddox- y'all aren't closed today? Guess I thought the weather came down to y'all too.. It's sleeting pretty bad here right now.

Thankfully It's not suppose to start raining here until tonight. And we don't need it. Hubby drives a log truck and the woods are already wet :(

I totally understand. My husband is an otr driver and he's supposed to be home today or tomorrow. And he's driving from Va through NC then here. I foresee him not making it til Thursday.

Woohoo! Roboduck brought home a generator last night so the Cayuga eggs should be safe. Happy dance ... all of them in a bit of a montage.
