I spent the day hanging out with my little zookeeper and doing farm stuff. We got everything set for two does who are due by this evening, and made the trip to the McDonough TSC. They only had ducks, which we were told were "pekings". After a bit of googling, they are fawn and white runner ducks -not interested :(. I don't know if they have chicks yet; calling soon. Do we know that the Griffin store does? I'm thinking I may be up for the trip if they have something better than McDonough -and the McDonough staff would sigh at me if I spend much more time there ;).
 
Just checked with the McDonough store; they have RIR and Plymouth Rock pullets and SLW and Australorps -straight run. Pullets are $2.99, and straight run are $1.99
 
TSC in Dallas has SLW (among others) but I was told that "they are a specialty breed so they will be more." Of course I was told this by the same person that told me the little yellow ducklings were Mallards.

She also assured me that the ducklings had been there and available for at least two days ... nevermind that Little Bit and I have been there every day this week and they were not there. (And we didn't just look, we talked to on duty staff.)


So it seems that not everyone that works there is as bright as one might hope. LOL
