You know I had my own drama with a hole neghbors

Oh I know. That's why I added that last line in there about good friends versus great friends! HAHA!

They stay on our property at all times. animal control said we had to put them in a pen or tie them up. we put them up after my husband got home from work. we had 9 that free ranged
Look up the local regulations about that. But usually there is a clause in there that says they must be under "your control" or at the very least "under your control when off the property". In BOTH cases, being on your property means they are under your control. So animal control dude (or girl) is wrong, and showing him/her the exact wording of the law in black and white will help you.

I was attacked in my yard by two Dobermans. I had to get into my van to get away from them. I called Fulton Co. Animal Control, and the police, and waited 45 minutes in my van with the dogs jumping on the drivers door trying to get at me. When Animal control came he actually tried to catch the big male by sticking the catch pole out his window. The female was dragging a chain which got tangled when they were attacking the van, and he was able to catch her once he got out of the vehicle. When he said "I am leaving now because I can't catch him", I said "you cant leave him at large, you need to shoot him or something". I told me that they "would not shoot the animal, and would charge me with animal cruelty if I did". The three times that I called 911 they said "stay in your car until animal control arrives". The officer that I requested never responded. The AC officer said that the female had a tag, and he was going to try to locate the owners. I called five times requesting information about the owners, and to see if the male had been caught. Each time they said that they didn't have that information, but would have someone call me. I'm still waiting...... months later. I didn't have a weapon then, but I do now and in the future I will not bother with Animal Control or 911.
Next time you see it, kill it, and then tell AC, Cops, and the owners, that you were outside of the car when you got attacked. They can't do anything about it then - your property, public property, doesn't matter. It's self defense, plain and simple. YOUR CAR, dog right beside it, they won't question the story.

Love your Marans! We have 2 Blue Copper Maran pullets that are a month old. One has a little bit of copper coloring around her neck, but they are mostly dark. Do all of yours have feathered feet? I could not tell from the pictures. We have never had these birds before, so I'm excited to see what they look like when they grow up. We are hoping that the eggs are dark brown.
Thanks, I don't think they are all Marans from what some others said, but I am hoping that at least a few are. No not all of them but at least half. This is my first time with Marans, and I have 16 eggs in the bator that are suppose to be the same, Keeping my fingers crossed LOL! Do you have pics of yours?

We made it. Kept waking up thru the night though. We've got some limbs down, but nothing serious.

@buddy phoenix & beckyb- I had s similar issue with my neighbors 2 doors down. He got 2 pitt mix puppies, who spent all their time at my house. Long story short, I used a pellet rifle on both of them. It tooka few times but now they stay away. I shoot at all dogs that venture onto my proproperty. At least a pellet wont kill them, but it hurts enought to make them stay away. Even so, I only let my birds out when im at home.

seriously though, its worth it to invest in a pellet rifle. BBs dont work

My hubby has done the same thing. We keep a pellet/bb rifle on nails above the door!
Good Morning!
