YO GEORGIANS! :)

Any ideas on getting a full-grown HEN to stop sleeping in the laying box.. Short of closing it off? My RSL in the past week and a half has started roosting there until I go out and shine my flashlight on the roost, then she hops right up on it. Now it's like that's her routine and it's on my nerve.

Last night I decided to leave her and (of course) she was still there this morning. She goes in same time as the others and she's not the underdog or anything. I wonder can she see as well as the others??

When a hen starts to sleep in the nest box, she's probably being broody. I'd try stuffing a few eggs under her, and seeing what she does about that.

Hmm. You really think so? I thought when they got broody, they got bit**y as well? She is there when I open the nest box, but is quite amicable and very open to getting up when urged. She's not puffed up, just chillaxin.

With all that, do you still think so? Plus, she's a sex link??

LOL!! You mean this site self-edits the word ****, but I had to go back and edit that myself!?

LOL, they edit all of the words. I've started putting the first letter in at least, so you all know what I meant to say, haha.

I admit, I have a horrible mouth. And I have reasons for not wanting to change that about myself too. But it all comes down to the question "WHO created that word and who created the reason WHY can we not say it?"

Anyway, no, it's not THAT likely. But it's always possible. ANY hen has the possibility of going broody, some breeds are just much less likely than others. She may be getting up so easily because she has no eggs though. So if you have some expendable eggs, put them under her and see what she does.

So I moved my lock down eggs into my new LG still air. (Which, BTW is freaky) These eggs aren't supposed to hatch til the 23rd. I've got 3 or 4 rolling around and a few super loud cheaper!

That's okay, today is the 22 so they probably won't hatch until sometime today or over the night and tomorrow.

I'm having the same problem with my scissor beaked EE. Lately she waits to eat until all the others have gone to bed. Then it's so dark she can't find her way to the roost, so she's sleeping in the nest boxes.

I've started putting her in a little cage a few times a day with some wet feed mash, so that she can eat. So far she hasn't taken the hint, and keeps stalking the feed bins til dark. I cant manually put her on roost because it's closed up for winter (I've got a removable panel on the side I keep off during summer). Really not sure what to do with her. She just started this recently. ?.

Hehe well I just figured "bi+€#¥" would self-edit so I let it rip. And it didn't so then I felt bad. LOL.

Yeah, I guess you're right. She could be.. Anything is possible!

One is starting to zip. A few more are rolling around. I love the design of this incubator. It's bigger than my forced air. Jus laying them flat, I'm pretty sure I can fit about 65 eggs in and with the bottom being deeper I can tetris stack. Woo Hoo!
