YO GEORGIANS! :)

I told you all that my enabling husband is letting me add 2 Columbian Wyandottes to my McMurray order? LOL

Next question - assuming any of my eggs hatch, can I just put those chicks in with my hatchery chicks? They will be a week or less apart in age.

And do I start the red rangers on regular chick start or something specifically for broilers?

They should be fine together. I start my broilers on 24% protein chick starter the swap them over to an 18-20% at about 4 ish weeks depending on how long I'm letting them grow out.

Will giving my girls cilantro, flavor my eggs funny?

I doubt you would notice the flavor of cilantro in their eggs.

Besides, if the flavor of everything my chickens ate came through in their eggs, I would have stopped eating eggs a LONG, LONG time ago. It's amazing what these girls put in their beaks!

LTygress.. This is true!! Do you feed yours onions and all? I admit I do shy from some strong flavored (onions, etc) food because I heard somewhere it could give a taste.. Wonder if it's really true?

Pretty much whatever they can get to is fair game.

My oldest nephew has a habit of tossing food over the side of the back porch. It all tends to pile up right there, rots out, and becomes squishy. Everything from old eggs, to cereal and milk, to ramen noodles, to potatoes from last year's thanksgiving are sitting there (but clearly, no longer distinguishable). It REEKS! And it's right beside the D*** frizzle pen, so I despise him doing it (but my sister won't do anything about it).

Yet for some reason, my chickens think it's the best tasting sh** in the world! Not to mention, they poop on it, and still eat it anyway!

Now that I've gotten most of them penned back up, it's just a matter of what they poop on and THEN eat. None of the rotten food stuff now. But still, the pooped-on food is enough to make you think twice about eating their eggs.

THANK GOD THEY DON'T TASTE LIKE THE CRAP THE CHICKENS EAT!
