I only use it as a hatching incubator, so it always has water. It only took three of the SHORT trays to reach about 40-50% though.

I keep an old design LG at 20% for the rest of incubation though. And to achieve that, I filled one small water tray in the old LG.

Ok thanks! We may have talked about that before but my head spins constantly during incubation lol.

So I wonder should I fill a tray in mine now? Is yours considered "dry hatching"? That term is really confusing.

Yes, it's considered a dry hatch.

I just had to fill the one tray to bring it up to 20% because, as mentioned before, the winter air here is HORRIBLY dry.

Hmm. I'm always worried about water bc I don't measure humidity. I think I'm gonna end up getting one of those thermo/hygro combos..

You're probably close *enough* to me to be around the same humidity. If you have an old LG, go ahead and fill up one of the short straight trays on the side. Only one.

I still have a few now that are about 4 weeks old, I think. New babies due in about 10 days. And 12 days. And 14 days. And ...

If you are used to hatching with an LG, BE CAREFUL WITH THE NEW ONE! Only start by filling one tray with water, then give it about a day. Check humidity after that, and then fill another tray only if you need a good increase! If you're like 5% off of what you want, just leave it alone. The new trays have a LOT more surface area, and I started by filling 4, since Georgia can have some pretty dry winter air. But the humidity went into the 70s from it, and killed several embryos.
