YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hoop coops! They'll be lighter as well as cheaper. And they'll look a whole lot better than the ghetto shelters I have now.
I will wait to see what yours look like before building my own. But I'm really liking that idea.

About to wake the niece up, get her ready, and head your way. I'm bringing the second egg color chart with me, too.

@abmaddox1981, you'll have to let me know where Miss Bonnie's eggs fall on that chart.. Yes I'm still calling her that lol. I think she's lived up to it.

I have to admit it... I bought it.  It's a nice comfortable height.  The cage part is 3' x 8'.  It's divided in the middle with a door for each side.  It's pretty well built and was almost too much for me to unload out of my truck alone and then maneuver it into the building.   I am thinking about getting a material list together and building some.

Hmmm...so,built with 2x4s then? I was trying to figure out if I could get away with painted 2x3s.

Thankyou!!!!! That I can handle. Oh they are in her room until they are older. She was FFA pres. So if I ask her I get that "really mom?" look LOL ok I'm good. I have built a fortress for my birds. 12' high security fence. Omg I'm so over doing this!!!! I have parrots that I rescue so I'm the crazy bird lady. I love all my birds, inside and out :weee

Hi, and found luck with your ducks! We'd love to see pictures of your parrots.

Quote: I had a Hahn's Macaw. GREAT bird. (to me) It tolerated GAM and HATED the kids. It would go out of it's way to chase them down to bite them. That amused my tremendously. But it (I never had it sexed) adored me and would hang out with me. I couldn't eat while it was with me because it insisted on climbing onto my plate or into my bowl and helping itself. Beautiful plumage, never plucked itself, could imitate phones and turkeys to the point you thought it was real and seemingly very healthy.... right up until it suddenly dropped dead in the cage. Apparently that's more common in parrots than I ever would have imagined. If you're nearby, I'll sell you the cage at a good price.

Quote: The legs and bottom of the cage are 2x4s. The rest of the cage is 2x2s, apparently from ripped 2x4s. They sold it as a rabbit hutch but I"m pretty sure I can get chickens through those doors.

Question: when ready to cull egg laying hens for freezer camp, is there anything special I should do before, you know, "off with their heads"??

Talk to 'em really nicely and say "thank you"? It's the same as processing young birds for meat; withholding food is a personal preference. A full crop is easier to see and gives you something to hang on to when removing it, but makes a bigger mess if you accidentally break it. That's all I can think of.
