YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have to admit, I'm loving these auction threads - but not for the buying!

I just noticed someone got all excited for winning a $45 auction for wheaten/blue wheaten ameraucanas...

And the seller has an actual post elsewhere on the same forum, selling them without an auction for $40 per dozen.

I can't wait until I finish this one order and then post a dozen Sumatra eggs on there...

@abmaddox1981 , just checked the chicken color calculator on those BLRW eggs. If Lemon Pepper is indeed a splash-laced red, and General Tso is (obviously) a BLRW, then all they have the possibility of producing is blue and splash-laced red wyandottes! There's no chance for black-laced red, which is possible when you cross BLRW with BLRW. So by her being splash-laced, I won't get the BORING color, lol!

Yeah the boro aint so bad. Honestly if we had a decent grocery store it would improve things alot. A kroger or a publix. All we have are harveys, walmart, and bilo.

Got a question for all of you- how did you come to start raising chickens? Did you grow up with chickens on the farm ?
I grew up with them on the farm (grandparents had chickens). Moved to a not so big city but parents didn't have anything other than a dog and cat. I moved last year and where I was moving from, a lady had left her chickens. The other neighbor was going to kill them so I rescued them. We moved them to  the 15 acres we had just bought and I fell in love with that morning crow and how friendly a chicken can be! It has become an addiction but one that I gladly admit I have! I already have 3 coops/runs and I am in the process of building 7 breeding pens  that I hope to have full within the month!

I grew up with them on the farm and raised them in the 4H Club. I left the farm years ago. My granddaughter wanted some last year and the time was right and that was the nudge it took. We have 12 adults and 7 month old chicks.

I always wanted enough land to do some light farming. I haven't got the land yet, but I figured 3/4 of an acre could hold a few chickens. Mainly I need to stay busy and this is just one thing I thought would be cool. I can sell the eggs to coworkers and have a few lower maintenance pets that contribute more than just pooping in the yard and licking me in the face.
