YO GEORGIANS! :)

Liked your page! I wanted to share it on my fan page (Crunchy Parenting Page with about 6k fans on it http://www.facebook.com/LittleCrunchy ) but your page came up oddly and wouldn't let me? Feel free to post your link on my fan page! I know other crunchy families are getting into chickens!
I liked your page too! :) Here is my Facebook page if you'd like to follow me too: https://www.facebook.com/mamaandhercrazies?ref=hl

Welcome. I have no idea where that is. :) I'm in Appling(CSRA)

For any of y'all who might be interested in preserving endangered heritage poultry (or just want to check out some cool birds) check this out

Are the chickens that I buy from hatcheries(Meyer or McMurray) not heritage chickens?

Howdy everybody! I am new to the whole chickens deal as an adult, and glad to be here. My wife and I just moved back to my family farm in South Georgia ( I moved away when I was 8-9). We had chickens, and I want to get that tradition started again for my first child that is on the way (May 16th). Any tips and advice is welcome!

Welcome and congrats on your baby girl! We have 2 1/2 week old chicks. We have speckled sussex, Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpingtons, Easter Eggers, White Rocks, a Blue Andalusian, a Delaware and a silver laced wynadotte. (16 in total) We are first timers. We are going to be raising these girls as layers and then later on will get some cornish rocks to fill the freezer with.

@SelinaBroklyn - Welcome.

Afternoon all!

Today is my youngest daughter's 2nd Birthday!!

I am taking the chicks to my son's Preschool tomorrow. They are learning about things that hatch from eggs and new life. 57 Preschoolers meeting sixteen 2 1/2 week old chickens should make for an interesting morning and some tired chickens.

I am ready for nice warm weather! Plus I need to get the coop leveled so we can start building walls!

Happy Birthday to the young'un! :D

Have fun tomorrow, I'm sure the chickies will be exhausted ;)

@lingab it depends on the breed. Only certain types/breeds are heritage. Take RIR. If it's the light red that is most common from hatcheries, that is a production red not a heritage. Same thing with barred rocks. And a lot of other breeds.

Welcome to all the newbies!

I'm new myself and not very good at keeping up yet!

Anyone interested in marking their location on a map so we can see where everyone is from? You don't have to put your address, just city is fine.

https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=895226

I put the directions at the top on how to add your marker. :) I recently moved to GA, so I have no idea where most of you are. This might also help with the chicken Railroad.
