YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have a couple questions... 1) can geese ducks and chickens co-habitate in the same pen? 2) Can you ban any of above mentioned birds?

I have heard of people who did keep chickens and ducks together, but I've never tried it myself. I hear that keeping the food and water clean, etc, can be tough. I'm not sure I understand the second question though.

I bought a new (used) playpen from the local thrift store for my outside brooder, and found out I already have one flying onto the siderail of the playpen! But I was putting all of the younger babies into the new one, so they won't get squished or learn those bad habits yet!

I was hoping to get my oldest chicks -the TSC EEs -out into the small coop this week, but we're still getting night time temps into the 30's. I still have them under a regular light bulb in the garage, at between 70-75 degrees. I need to move the cats out of the big coop (hoping for dryer, warmer weather there too), put the one EE roo and Guinea hen into the big coop, and move the juveniles into the small coop. They will move to the big coop as the younger chicks move into the small coop, etc. I'm over all these little pooping machines in the house. (I don't know how you folks with geese are going to manage!)

Do you mean leg bands? Sure, you can band any/all of the birds mentioned.

And we have ducks in with chickens right now. No problems (other than dirty water).

Like a leg ban to tell age & or makes from females?

Oh! There are colored bands available from online suppliers in various sizes to fit different breeds of poultry/waterfowl, but many people just use colored zip ties and trim the ends. If I were going to use zip ties, I'd be sure the bird was mostly grown and that the tie wasn't too tight.

Can you tell the girls are still up and pestering me? It's taking me forever to type answers to simple questions!

@mrsdszoo do you and @ChickDancer want to go to Buggy Town Auction Friday? I've got 6 bunnies to sell but don't want to go by myself.

Oh yes! I need to free up some cage space myself. That morning I'll be processing some rabbits, but I have others to sell. I think the little grey and white buck might go too -he's started to growl at me -not cool :(.

***Started this post about an hour ago and got called away from the computer...I might bring a just-turned-20 yr. old to the auction. She should go for a good bit, right?
