YO GEORGIANS! :)

EMorning everyone. It coffee time! Anyone seemy post from late last night? I've had one answer, was still wondering about the hen that I posted a pic of. I was told when thwy were at 6 weeks that she was probly a cross. So I left it at that. Any thoughts?

Size is both - breed and age. They won't completely "fill out" until about a year to 18 months old. But then some breeds are just HUGE compared to others. I had no idea a large-fowl Cochin could so big until I hit the Buggy Town auction last week! And I never knew leghorns were actually horrible meat birds and far too slender  for eating until I was researching them to buy one. I thought they were the standard chicken for the meat-bird industry (in addition to the egg industry I already knew they dominated)! I never knew the commercial meat bird title went to the cornish breed.

And then there's the bantam type, bantam crosses, and those with "ancient bantam blood" that are really large fowl because they've been crossed back so much.

Oh what I could do with a large-fowl silkie....

A large-fowl silkie would be awsome. But almost funny knowing what silkies look like. I can only imagine seeing one of those trying to get up off the ground. Lol. Not very flighty as they are. Well at least my lil roo isn't. But then again he walks with a slight limp ever since he came back from the brink of death. Someone Iin my neighborhood came into my backyard, opened my coop and tried to attack my chickens. I know it was a human because the main door to the henhouse was left open, large rocks more than 2x the size of my fist were strewn about and aslo skme thick bashing sticks. I don't understand people sometimes. I don't do wrong by people so I can't see who or why. But on a more positive note. I've been looking for the lil guy a blue silkie gal. As he doesn't get any "action" right now. That and my splash BLRW roo kinda dominates him.

Lol

I only dream of having that many, and can only imagine what itbwould look like to see that many different breeds running around. A beautiful sight I'm sure.

don't worry, that's how I started. ;)
Eventually, you have so many chickens you can't count them all (that's where chicken math comes in handy) :clap

What a large variety you have!

I'm not far behind you on the number, but I've got much less variety. Plus many of my chickens are mutts.
Next spring, I'm hoping to start breeding some purebreds. If I can get a good bator, I can try selling the extras.
