YO GEORGIANS! :)

It's a BOY.........or it could be a girl. I KNOW without a doubt it's one or the other. We've been trying to figure out what ours are, too. The SLW's have distinctly different combs. The Brahmas not so much . We've taken the ones that have the longer tail feathers and compared them to the ones without tails and the combs look the same. We just can't really tell at this point.

Ok, seriously though, Look at all the other 5, and then her. She's the only one I am like 90% sure looks like a female. The other 2 are iffy. But the first 3 are DEFINITELY BOYS! No doubt there

I've tried looking at the tails too, but I actually can't see any differences. Now the chick #4, which I think is a female, her feathering is smoother than all the others. Don't know if it's just my imagination or if it's really there. I guess I'll find out in the coming weeks.

I have one SLW I'm worried may end up with a single comb. :/ I keep comparing it to pics of my late roo who had a great comb and it's just not the same. Only time will tell though..

I think #6 looks female.

Edited to add: And I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. ;-) So take that for what it's worth! LOL

The combs seem to be different but I wouldn't want to put any money on it. However, this one certainly poses for the camera like a girl.
That was just what I thought!

Indeed she does. When I put them in their outdoor play pen, most of them "cock" fight with each other, though of course I've seen hens do it too. But chick #4 is very docile, and submissive to the others. Of course that could just mean she's at the bottom of the pecking order, but I will stick to my illusion she's a girl.

I want at least 1 Brahma layer in my flock!!! I'll be super disappointed if they all turn out to be boys, since their pretty fluffiness will end up in the freezer

Hey, I didn't know we had a big hatchery in Georgia... http://macon.craigslist.org/grd/4381868095.html

Thanks! This is good to know. I've been thinking of getting Red Rangers for broiler chickens instead of Cornish Rocks, so I'll keep their page saved.

And, maybe I'm mistaken, but aren't Cinnamon Queens the same thing as Red Star/ Golden Comet/ etc? (You know, that breed with like 10 names)

I thought Cinnamon Queens were the same as Red Sex Links - but they have both for sale?
