It was from lack of bandaging. That's why the wound dried out. But beyond MY control, because I should have had the bandaging already, to rewrap the wound with reliable stuff so it wouldn't have come loose and dried out.

My clepto nieces were the cause, and I'm giving them the worst possible punishment:

I'm letting them know they are the cause of his death, and why.

Oh I see hon. I thought it was already off and the bandage was holding it in place. I had forgotten that part. Sorry.

The scalp itself was off. It exposed his skull and those ligaments. But I applied gauze with tons of petroleum jelly on it to keep the wound moist, twice a day. The self-adhesive bandaging held the gauze on.

The self-adhesive bandaging came loose. The gauze didn't stay up against his head, so the wound absorbed the last of the vaseline on just the wound, and dried up. There was a lot of the vaseline left on the gauze.
 
OK I have tried twice to post a picture of my chicken coop but I don't see it, so if it's showing up somewhere else I'm sorry for the double post lol I'll get it eventually
