YO GEORGIANS! :)

Stopping in here to say Hi, I'm new to BYC, located down here in SE GA.
I'm still in the research/planning stages so no chicks yet.
I'd love to hear which are your favorites for our weather.
Also wondering if any of you breed and sell hoping that when the time comes I can get my chicks/pullets from within GA.

Yay! Welcome. I'm near the savannah area. Actually the SC side, but enjoy the GA thread more! Lol.

Problem with being on the other side of the world, its my afternoon when I spent the whole morning talking to myself and my biddies. Cooler today so theyre in my kitchen getting cooked rice treats. Hope I can find someone soon in my timezone. :/

What kind of chicken is this? 7 weeks old and I think it is clear it is a rooster! My kids named him when he was tiny "Raptor" he just had such a different personality than the rest and it is kind of cool to find out Raptor is actually a boy. We never planned to have a Roo but I can't picture not keeping him. But what breed is he? His bin was labeled Silver Laced Wyandottes.... thats not right! LOL
Looks like it has pink legs. Speckled Sussex is my guess!

Our Roo, all the way to the right and his 5 (hopefully) girls! You can only see the butt of the female that is the roo's same breed behind the white EE. The one in the back is fully black. Still not sure what they are either as the black one with brown neck ring was from the same bin. Supposed to be pullets though! We shall see!
roo is speckled Sussex. Black with red neck is black Sexlink. Chick on end is also speckled Sussex. Would need a better pic of black one and one behind EE for breed. :)

Looks like a mutt. There's part of a speckled sussex there, with the spots on the belly. But then the back has more of a barring pattern - the type normally on a partridge rock. A speckled sussex rooster will have that kind of pattern on his saddle and hackle feathers, but he's too young to be growing those, and yours has it on his wings.
