Sorry to read about the babies dying, cat injuries and storms keeping everyone lifes in uproars. All my 17 are doing great we're expecting 90 today after a cold 70 yesterdsy. Its 430am and all the neighbor roosters have been waking up past hour, just in time for my last kid to go to bed. They found mtv on the satellite yesterday and stayed up all night watching stuff they missed. We dont have many english free channels here and there is no cable or local tv programs most come from egypt or dubai and other neighboring countries. The idea of free thinking media here is still pretty new. None of my two older chickens have done much in the way of letting me know what they are yet. I saw a bit of squabble between them the other day but most times they are pretty passive. My 15 babies got the balcony in use again and yesterday was warm but so breezy that they huddled under the lamp often. I use plastic crates to pen them to one side and wind and my residential turtle kept knocking them down (trying to get into the sun) I hope I can work out another pen soon but I need to make it more sheltered for the little guys since I have no electric on the roof and ive yet to see much of power cords here. Might try to run another lamp with a long cord but I need to calculate meters I need so I get enough cord. A rabbit hutch with an attached run would give them enough room til I hope to find a home soon and can move and get settled. Im probably going to have rooftop chickens! And a greenhouse to keep land open below for my daughter to train dogs. Took minutes for me to clean the coop yesterday and it hadnt been cleaned since I moved them 3 wks ago. Sun dries all the poop and I put down sand and straw to pad under their pen. A quick sweep and trash bag and done. I guess once I get 15 more up there I cant complain. Checked all for bugs, butts clean and funny my 5 older babies blend in I have to look to see them. My two oldest are now almost 4 months old and looking much better than other families chickens. I think once im set I could earn a nice income selling healthy chickens and eggs. Well im going to read a bit, going to the cemetery today to visit my son and try to create a pen for the babies to move to once its warm enough. Patching broken cement on the roof for leaks too. Take care all. Hope to see a house soon so pray that works out.
