YO GEORGIANS! :)

Ok, enough about Robo the Mallardjusted Dork.

Classroom egg hatching project one went really well. The kids got to see a few of the hatches. (Last couple of classes have missed them because they happened overnight or on the weekend). We have one chick in ICU but all of the others are looking great. Tomorrow I start another project at another school for an entire grade level. The kids are so excited. I love doing this stuff with them.

Bummer, the 2nd duck egg is missing under one of my broodies! I wish I knew what happened to them. I thought it was the youngster I just put in the coop. But, I had put her back with the smaller chicks to keep her from getting anymore eggs. But, the 2nd one went missing today. o that leaves 4 under my broody that is basically in a crate in the coop and 7 in the bator.......shush, don't tell DH. I am hoping he won't notice!

I see nothing, I hear nothing, I say nothing

Cool some new peeps and some more babies for everyone to crow about, overslept today and still no word from hubby. About time I get really worried he finally sends me an email that hes either sick again or snow kept him out of work. Need to find the Colorado group on here so I can watch weather more. Since they dont allow them in my city wont be anyone close but still. Went to my window and looked down into the neighboring compound which is their chicken run and saw a lovely NN roo! Full grown too, so I got another source for NN eggs. He takes better care of his than most ive gotten looks at and for long as ive been here its his roo and my fil roo that wake me each morning so mine will just add to the crowfest sround here. If you have ever listened to roosters waking to the morning imagine hearing roosters in every home around you joining in song to greet the morning.
I remember how powerful it felt my first morning back here and being woken before dawn to the crows, then shortly after the voices of call to prayer from all the mosques in the area. Coming from Colorado where we had one 20 minutesaway just inside the Denver border and they could not use it because it was in a residential neighborhood to a mosque every acre its very moving regardless of your faith. My husband was like "I had forgotten what its like", 32 years you miss more than you realize.
On a similar note, how long can I leave a possible cluch of roos together before I would risk them fighting? I dont have much of a setup yet and I was hoping to have breed pairs at some point so that means more than 1 roo? I got 15 aged 3wks almost 4 to 1 week 1 1/2 at youngest. My two older are still undetermined at 4 months and doing fine together.
