YO GEORGIANS! :)

I improved my hatching success with these two pieces of equipment. The Little Giant Still-Air Incubator is notorious for hot and cold spots. With this type of thermometer I am able to monitor temps anywhere in my incubator, it cost me $5.00 bucks online(ebay). My wife brought me a couple of the small computer fans from here work. Once I added one of the fans the hot and cold spots disappeared. Before the fan, the temps could swing drastically from the top of the incubator to the bottom. I have seen differences of nearly 5 degrees within about 3 inches.

Love the thermometer- thanks! Does it measure humidity too? Record high/low?

Yes it does. I searched ebay and saw several that were similar and they are probably all good.

Is there anyone by chance who has a chick or hen they are selling and are within about two hours drive from Thomson/Augusta?

Remember the 3 hens a predator got? While we got two chicks for 2 of our children today, an Olive Egger and a Ameraucana. Now our teen is sad that her special chicken was taken too and she wants something special too. Seems the 2 barred rock chicks and the New Hampshire chicks are not "special" enough for her. (she had a jublee orphington)

Anyone have any special chicks or hens and are not too far away?

I have some Easter Eggers I'd be willing to give her, or maybe a Sumatra in the future (no chicks right now). But I want to wait for the Georgia Poultry Lab to give me results before I promise anything.

As for distance, I'm about 30 miles off of exit 93 on I-20. I know the main Thomson exit is number 172. So that's about a two-hour drive.
