YO GEORGIANS! :)

Ya'll are freaking me out with this snake talk. :shudder: I've just set two broody hens on eggs and worried snakes will get in there. Plus I don't even want to think about getting eggs today. I guess it's best to be warned. I need to take my flashlight with me from now on just in case. I might have a heart attack if I stick my hand in a box and find a snake instead of eggs.

We might need to visit this place someday.  www.poultryhollow.org

Oh, and while perusing Craig's List, I found an ad for a Silkie that is apparently VERY broody and they said you could use her to hatch out your duck, geese and turkey eggs.  Now I don't know a whole lot about silkies but just how many goose eggs do you think you could shove under her and still have them covered?  :idunno

One! That's why I had to put all my goose eggs in the bator.

I know this an Old thread.... But we're in Athens, GA!!

Welcome to the group. It's not only old but active! And stop calling all the others old.

I have a broody that's been sitting since June 1. It's been 26 days. The last time she went broody, it was 21 then she was done. Not sure when she plans on getting up this time though

I think you should go out tonight and candle them. If she has gotten off the nest a lot and the eggs cooled often, they could still be ok and just be late. But, I would look to see if there is anything even developing in those eggs.

The issue is, she isn't sitting on eggs, they're imaginary. She did the same thing last time. The eggs are being laid in a top nesting box, but I know she is broody because she puffs up, pecks and growls at me every time I go near her nest. I took her eggs 26 days ago, when I realized she was sitting on them. There were only 2 and one wasn't hers. Not to mention, I don't even have a rooster. She would probably not make a very good mom either, Sugar however would make a great mom.

It has POURED rain here today, off and on. Guess Broody McBrooderton won't have any trouble keeping her humidity up.. Speaking of which, I should probably go put her hygrometer next to her. :gig
