YO GEORGIANS! :)

In Alaska. Today we went to a Native Cultural Center and got to do a dog sled ride. Really cool. Then, one daughter and one grandson and I hiked/ climbed up to the very top of Flattop Mountain. It is listed as a difficult climb! Literally it was rock climbing the last 1/4 mile up! My grandson told me I was the most energetic grandma he knew! No one else would go all the way to the top with us. Will post photo of that tomorrow.

The people next door to the house we rented in Alaska has chickens. We can see them from the porch. when I have time I will walk over to see them!

Hard to get use to the sun. It is 10:30 at night and looks like 4 in the afternoon. Hard to go to bed! White water rafting tomorrow!

Ok I have drug myself out of bed, getting ready to go pick DH up at the airport. I'm so excited, I'm glad he is back. It's only been a week, but I miss him alot :D. Really wanted Robo to stay and do some man chores for me, sigh, it's ok Robo, DH is coming home today. Lol I hope he is rested up and in a good mood, cause there is no way I can hide chicks on the back porch LOL..... Now I have til 630 to figured out how to keep him out of the back yard so he doesn't see all the new birds that are here. He told me no more, but I don't mind very well and frankly don't care. Lol

It was very nice to meet Robo and Gam. They saved me from a huge arguement with DH ;). Can't thank you enough, I got enough explaining to do.....aww the the things I did while he was gone ,,,,(snicker) Abmaddox, is a bad influence on me LOL. Chicken math pssft. It's not math, it's multiplication, plain and simple. It's all good, I will just end all my sentences with E I E I O. :lau

Who's a bad influence? Certainly not me!?!

I really am thinking that the rooster some how hurt the polish hen yesterday and caused her death. No blood or anything but he was screwing her dead body, that is how nuts he is with the hens..... seriously I started asking around about how much others would charge me to possibly process him. Can't get the image out of my head..... disturbing.
When my cornish rock died last week my I went into the house to get a plastic bag and found my EE rooster on top of her. I think its normal and I am pretty sure they weren't a direct cause of her death.

Lost another hen today... That is 3 hens in about a week and a half! First...copperhead, second... Hawk, third... My own dog!!!!!!
It was our fault, husband did not follow protocol and lock the corral gate behind him. Dog ran through the electric fence. We went from having 4 slw's to only 1. Strange how it was always a slw that died, no other breed. Why couldn't it have been a rooster!!??!! We have 3 and only need 1. Tough week!!
That sucks allot. I really thought I was going to have a problem with the dogs and chickens being unattended. I started off by not letting the chickens out of the run and coaching my dogs as we went out to see them. Eventually I let the chickens out while coaching the dogs in close enough proximity to punt one over the fence if need be. The few times they did snap at the chickens I scolded them very harshly and ran them into the house. Now I take popcorn out as a treat and everybody huddles around waiting for their turn. If I could only figure out how to keep them from eating chicken poo I would be 100% satisfied in their coexistence.

Same for me with the poo. All 3 of mine eat it and it's just plain nasty.

Me! Southwest Georgia!

Great. I'm getting chicks for the first time in two weeks. I have two doxies. I hope they won't find chicken poo as a tasty treat. One of them already seeks out rabbit poo!
