Yes, BUT technically you're only supposed to do it in the winter in rabbit season. That drastically reduces the number of infected individuals with Tularemia. Its a rather nasty disease. Generally you can check the liver for cirrhotic spots (if it looks spotted and diseased) to see if the meat is safe to eat or not. Safest in winter, but if you know what to look for and the animal looks healthy overall with a healthy liver you should be fine.I've never dressed a rabbit and that little thing wouldn't have even been an appetizer. But for future reference... I can eat a rabbit that is injured but alive?
