YO GEORGIANS! :)

Day 4 went fairly well. All posts are in and over 500 feet of wire has been hung. Should get the last 1800 feet of wire up tomorrow. And then gates. And then lots of free range chickens.

We got a surprise this morning! One of my 16.5 week old flock laid an egg!!! Its our FIRST and We were ecstatic of course...but not really even expecting a chance of an egg for 2 - 3 more weeks. I'm pretty sure it was our smallest chicken, Aaron Murray (Go Dawgs!).... her comb and waddle are by far the reddest of the flock. She is also a red sex link and I think maybe i've heard those can lay on the early side. Other than that, I have no idea how to determine which chicken laid the egg.... we have 6 red sex links and 3 Americaunas or EE's. And with the egg being brown, I'm pretty certain its from one of the sex links... but seems odd that our smallest pullet would lay it...She's the same age as the others, just a little smaller. Anyone else heard of them laying that early? We got them from Tractor Supply on April 16. So i'm assuming they hatched on the 14th or 15th. Anyway... we have seen one of our Americaunas doing a little nesting....but sure looks like a red pullet egg to me!
