YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hypothetically if i were to start researching a "chickenstock" event at our store come spring time would this be something people would be interested in coming to? We already draw a large crowd of people coming to our store for chicks. If you combine the number of people who would be set up in the parking lot buying/selling/trading different varieties of chicks/chickens it could be fun. Large enough turn out and we could make it a monthly event.
The TSC in Augusta and the one in Thomson McDuffie county have had chicken swaps and vendors bring their goods to sale too like homemade soap, craft items, honey, etc. I wanted to go to the Thomson one but we (Washington-Wilkes) had a market day that day and I had to be there for my egg customers. I hope they have another one sometime and I will try to go to it. I know @Book was there and seemed to have had a great time. If you do get to have a chicken swap stock or whatever you call it let us know on here please.

Looks like my SM, Old DM and New DM are all three on vacation this week. By the time they get back i won't be asking them about the event i will be telling them about it. All of the customers i spoke to today were super excited and were thrilled at the idea.

Question to Carcar: You have Brahmas. This chicken (photo #4), is 5 months old. It has to be a male, right? But it has never crowed and I don't see hackle feathers. Do they just develop them more slowly?

Hey! Yes he appears to be a cockerel.. They develop very slowly.. I have a 6.5 month old who has yet to crow. Especially if they are heritage and not hatchery. Pretty birds!!

And I can't make out hackles either but looks like plenty of saddle. I have come out with lots of cockerels that color from my partridge breedings. Never a pullet though, really weird.. But then it's not like I've hatched hundreds. But I've had four cockerels like that!
