Hi, Brand new to chickens, I have 12 red rangers with more on the way! We are from Mount Airy very far in the Northeast.

WHAT WAS I THINKING!? I just hatched 24 chicks last night.....looked at the calendar and realized I have 36 more eggs going into lockdown tomorrow! And then a few days later, my ducks go into lockdown! And I need to set the 34 eggs that Rocky Rhodes and his DW snuck into our truck last night! Plus, I need to set some more duck eggs for a guy who wants them! OMG!, my DH is going to shoot me! You all know how he is! He will probably start proceedings to have me committed! Please, if you know anyone looking for chicks, send them my way! If any of you who wanted me to save you some of these chicks wants to get them before the May event, please do! But, don't worry, I will save them for you anyway!

If I get my chicks early, we can chat and hang out?

Hmmm.....sounds like perfect torture to me :)

Back to the story about my daughters Seramas. There were 3 eggs under the two co-broody hens. Two hatched yesterday. My daughter was thinking the other must be dead and she asked if she should toss it. I asked if the hens were still sitting on it. She said they took turns. One would get out and play with the babies, show them how to eat/drink and the other would sit on the last egg, then they would change places. I told her to sit tight, that most hens would kick out any egg that wasn't viable. Well, she went to candle the egg and heard peeping! She is soooo excited. Now it has a pip! So, hopefully it will hatch tomorrow so she doesn't have to worry about it. This is her first time to hatch eggs!
