I can hear them clucking around and as soon as they hear my voice or see me peeking through the front window, they start. It's kinda funny. Mostly the girls.

they are upset because they are missing your company or either they are complaining about the new home they will get use to it but it may take a little time.

It blew past pretty quick. And surprisingly, it is actually leak proof so far as I have seen. So, I guess they're fine. I think it gets a bit too warm in there so I have a tabletop fan propped in the recessed windowsill to keep air flowing.

you have plenty of ventilation though, right? the fan certainly won't hurt either way
 
So here is my only baby to hold for now. Everyone meet Pups. The word slipped out when I was talking to my husband and daughter so we decided that was going to be its name.

I would like to think so. On the east and west ends there are 12"x12" window openings with hardware cloth. And about 6 inches of the north wall is open along the length of the top and the south wall is open across the top about 8". I didn't install any sort of vent flaps yet because I knew it was going to be hot. I figured I'd add them on when the weather gets cooler. I think the problem is that the structure is not in as much shade as I would like it to be. We put it in an old 24'x24' dog run that was already fenced. The previous owners had completely timbered the property before they foreclosed and I assume that the trees have not grown enough to shade it in the later part of the day. From what I've been told by the neighbors and judging by the aerial shot of the property on google maps, they gutted it all around 2010ish. The satellite actually picked up the image of a truck with a bed full of debris. And all around it was bare dirt for acres.

sounds like you got it well covered!

Something you can do for shade, that seems to have helped mine a good bit, when you get your run built, put landscape cloth over it. My chickens will all head under there in the afternoons when the sun is hitting the run.
