yes medicated feed would be better and if she will eat a little flour with it together ot will slow her stomach down she is getting protein to fast and it upsetting her stomach[/quoteif you are going to be giving your chickens liquid medication in there water for cocci then do not feed medicated feed the first 5 days is a full syrenght dosage a preventive dodage is one half this dosage amount for the next days and as all the fuss made about the pro and con of medicated verus non medicated.The medicated feed as such a minimum amount of medication in it ,but this is better than none at all.

that a great question and if you read the label on the medication bottle it sates on the label to withdraw the medication 10 day before slaughtering the animal or consuming the or fleor before eating the egg .
 
Not chicken related, but when Deja and I were on our 6 mile walk this morning, we saw a pair of great horned owls.

I had never seen them in their natural habitat before. Quite an incredible experience for me.

Sorry I was talking about the medicated food that they eat day in and day out for weeks or months.

Medicated feed was originally made to be fed as a preventative. The dosage of medication is not enough to be effective against an infection of coccidiosis.

As for the statement that a minimum amount of medication is better than none at all, well that's actually false. Minimum dosages that don't straight out kill the bacteria they're intended to eliminate only allow those bacteria to build up a resistance to the medication, requiring a much stronger dose next time to actually kill the bacteria. That's a proven fact throughout the medical/pharmaceutical field. It's why a doctor who prescribes an antibiotic will 99.9% of the time make a point to tell the patient to take ALL the medicine, not just part of it until they think they feel a little bit better.

few years back we were camping on the river south of Rome and had a Barred owl fly up and land on a tree limb just outside our camp, man it was awesome, it sat there and looked at us for a while, then flew off. Glad I was too big for it to consider for supper that evening, LOL
 
I have a sinking feeling that I may have accidentally buried my $180 camera in the flower box that I put on the coop. I took it out to take pictures and I vaguely recall setting it in the box before it was planted. Every time I go out to check on the chickens, I want to stick my hand in the dirt and see if it's in there but I don't wan to ACTUALLY confirm that I did something so stupid.
