Me: yea, two are. I'm getting rid of one this week though.
Her: why are you keeping any? What are they good for?

Her: yeah, so, why do you need them?
Brother:... Honey, you need a dude to have kids.
Her: but why do they? The girls already lay eggs.
Brother: the eggs aren't fertile though, you still need a guy.
Her: wait, so ducks actually DO IT???
Brother: all animals do it!
Her: what??? I never new birds had to! I thought they were like frogs and fish, and just layed eggs.
Brother: frogs and fish do it too!!

We then had to calmly explain the animal's reproduction to her, and yes, ducks do indeed "do it"

Man I love the double doors on the end of my coop! here's why, I went from this:





to this, in about 5 minutes!



scooped out the poop tray and put it on top, used the dump carry all on the tractor to move it to the compost pile, spread that bag of shavings and in less than 20 minutes, voila! clean bedding and poop tray.

I closed the pop doors to keep the chickens in the run while I had all the doors open. It just about drove them crazy not to be able to get in while I was in there!

there are several of them that come in and watch me clean. They literally stood outside pecking on the pop doors the whole time I was in there, like they were going

I really want those "Naked" Palletes. Even though I can technically say it's to stock my kit, the DH would have a heart attack at me spending $55 for a few shadows. He knows how much stuff I have accumulated over the last few years that hardly cost me anything. LOL Some day....

Awesomeness! This reminds me, I tipped over a bowl in one of the coops tonight.. It had been sitting on a bed of hay, dirt, shavings and some spilled water from the waterer.. It was FILLED with these fat grub-type worms and the birds went crazy over it. I made sure to put the bowl back after!

RIP my dog Daisy, a fifteen year old yellow lab, who I had to put down yesterday and a bantam cockerel named churro who my standards killed after he escaped his pen.

sorry, never fun to have to put down a family member, OR to have an escapee suddenly come to regret his decisions only to be unable to reverse them

Oh no! That is never a happy day when a beloved dog has to go down.

15 years is a long happy life for a lab! That's lots and lots of happy memories for you to cherish. And so sad to lose little churro, too.
