So I finally had someone say something about my birds worth sharing! By brother came over with his wife, and I was talking about my ducks which are the newest addition to my flock.

Brother: are any boys?
Me: yea, two are. I'm getting rid of one this week though.
Her: why are you keeping any? What are they good for?
Me: I'm hatching eggs from them next year.
Her: yeah, so, why do you need them?
Brother:... Honey, you need a dude to have kids.
Her: but why do they? The girls already lay eggs.
Brother: the eggs aren't fertile though, you still need a guy.
Her: wait, so ducks actually DO IT???
Brother: all animals do it!
Her: what??? I never new birds had to! I thought they were like frogs and fish, and just layed eggs.
Brother: frogs and fish do it too!!

We then had to calmly explain the animal's reproduction to her, and yes, ducks do indeed "do it"

Man I love the double doors on the end of my coop! here's why, I went from this:

to this, in about 5 minutes!

scooped out the poop tray and put it on top, used the dump carry all on the tractor to move it to the compost pile, spread that bag of shavings and in less than 20 minutes, voila! clean bedding and poop tray.

I closed the pop doors to keep the chickens in the run while I had all the doors open. It just about drove them crazy not to be able to get in while I was in there!

there are several of them that come in and watch me clean. They literally stood outside pecking on the pop doors the whole time I was in there, like they were going

When it comes to make up, I don't have a clue, I only know MAC but it makes more sense that stage/theater make up is much better!

Oh MAC is still widely used in film, television and theater production! Maybe more than a lot of other brands. Even though it is sold in department stores it is definitely a performance product. That's what makes it so great. I believe they are still one of the sponsors for Cirque De Soleil. They have a whole other entity, MAC Pro. It's like MAC's regular stuff plus a bazillion other products not sold at partnered counters and flagship stores. You would die! It's amazing. It's product that is geared towards pros in the industry but also can be used by anyone for anything. You should check it out. lots and lots of fun stuff!

And don't sell yourself short. If I had a nickel for every woman that told me she hasn't a clue about makeup I could retire. Oftentimes, with a little further investigating we usually uncover that you actually have more skill than you give yourselves credit for. It's not always a matter of you not knowing what to do, it's in the second guessing yourself that trips you up. When trying something new for the first time, the self doubt is usually what squashes your efforts. my biggest piece of advice is usually to just relax and have fun with it and don't over think it too much.

And practice does make perfect. You should've seen some of the jacked up things I've done when I was first starting out.

I got the idea for the feeder from on here somewhere, researching feeder ideas. that was easy enough really, just some scraps of OSB leftovers cut in a wedge. I made the back and bottom out of some of the galvanized flashing left over from the roof, to protect against mice chewing through from the outside. It will hold a little more than a 50 lb bag of feed, so I don't have to worry about feed for a couple weeks at a time at least. Top that off with the 30 gallon water barrel system, I feed every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks, and fill the barrel every week and a half. Clean the poop tray twice a week. Now if I'd just start getting some eggs!
