Welp, today is both a sad day and an exciting day..

My mother-in-law (my neighbor), has a broody hen. I decided I would let her "try" and hatch 2 of my Black Jersey Giant Eggs for me. Sadly, I go over there only to find a empty nest. Today would have been day roughly a week from hatch day.

On a good note, I now have an incubator and have currently 20 eggs in there. I do not know the types nor have I seen the mother/father of them. I found them on Craigslist (there is a list of possibilities) but there is no way of determining who laid what, as they don't have them separated. I have several browns, whites, and a very light blue or green.. there is even a few that are speckled. Crosses fingers... here's to hoping! I am just worried that while I am turning them manually, it will let the heat out ruining the eggs. :/

What do you mean? I mean the eggs are gone.. she returned to it but it's empty now..

Sorry when you turn the eggs manually don't worry about the heat, it's like the hen jumping off the nest

These chicks are part of this guinea clan, I will try to get better pics but they don't exactly sit still, in this pic of the blue see the dark blue on the neck so pretty and the regular grey birds you can see they have almost lost all of their keet feathers.

Let's see if I can get this in the right spot this time...I accidentally put it in the big forum not the Georgia one! I finally have the time and resources for my coop. Now I am debating stationary versus tractor. What are some suggestions from experienced chicken folk? I have no building restrictions (family farm) and we are out in the sticks, so no city ordinances to deal with. What are the pros and cons that I should consider? I'm in southeast GA, if that makes a difference.

I personally like stationary coops, I free range my birds and they go in at night to bed and anytime during the day they feel they need to go home, the only time I lock the door is at bed time, I'm lucky that I have not had too many predators, tho I did forget to lock the door and a fox had free chicken dinners. They also have a tree line they go into for shade and protection, I put out water in different locations, so my birds can just be chickens.
